Only 7 weeks left...

Okay, so I have not kept up this blog at all, but today I will try to bring it up to the present. We have been a little crazy here in Reston with my work and trying to work in all the calls that I will miss while on maternity leave, going to San Antonio for the team physician meeting (my only vacation for this year, so I made Craig come with), and Craig studying for and taking the Virginia bar this past week. We had planned to start and finish painting of the nursery and steam clean the carpet so we could try to arrange the furniture this weekend, but I think the reality will be that completed taping the trim for the painting and Craig has so far done the first coat on one wall, so the completion of everything will have to be put off some more.

Okay lets see...

November went well, we had Thanksgiving dinner at the Emdadi's in Warrenton and like always we had both wonderful food and company. The Friday after Thanksgiving 11/23/2007 was the first time I felt the baby move. I was on call doing an admission in the emergency room around 10pm and it felt like someone was tapping their fingers on my belly. The next week we went in for our 20 week ( 5 month) ultrasound on 11/27/2007 to make sure all the baby measurements looked good and to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. We both thought with almost all of our friends pregnant with or having a girl it must be up to us to even the numbers out, but no, we were told by the ultrasound technician and then by the radiologist himself when I still seemed skeptical about the sex that we were most definitely having a little baby girl. We had to start thinking of names again since we had only agreed and decided on a boy's name up till that point. I thought I was "showing" a lot and by now was only wearing maternity clothes (...I had no idea how big my belly could become.)

5 months pregnant and on our way to the ultrasound

December:
Craig felt the baby move for the 1st time on 12/12/2007 around 10:30pm. I will point out a trend that the baby is much more active at night. In fact pretty much starting at 9pm until about 3 in the morning she likes to play. Christmas we spent at the Emdadi's and it was fun to see everyone, but I was on call the next day so we came back early to Reston on Christmas day.

January:
Christi's little girl Claire came early in January and was absolutely adorable in pictures. (I didn't actually meet her until this weekend.) It was fun to see everyone at Rachel's shower on 1/26/2008. Both Rachel and Kyndra were in town for the shower. Christi was able to come and looked great, and surprisingly rested, and Erika was there. I learned what books I was suppose to be reading from our "experienced mom" and I went out that week and started reading both the happiest baby on the block and babywise. I have almost finished the happiest baby on the block and about 1/3 the way through babywise to date.

All the still pregos Rachel, Kyndra and myself (28 weeks - 7 months, not that I'm counting or anything)

Feb:
Craig and I traveled to San Antonio for the team physician's seminar and for Valentine's Day. It worked out well. It was nice to get away from work, and the cold ice storm that we had the day before we left and to be in warmer weather together where we could go on walks at night. Craig was able to get a lot of studying done without the distractions of studying at home, and my lectures during the day ran from 7:30 or 8am to about 5pm. The sunny photo is us on the river walk in San Antonio on Valentine's Day after my much "needed" ice cream. Ice cream by now has become pretty much a daily indulgent. We came back to Virginia on the 17th and Craig continued to study furiously for another week. We drove down to Norfolk, VA on Monday 2/26 and Craig took the bar on Tuesday and Weds, while I went swimming and walked around the mall. It again was a nice break from the extra time and stress of work for me, and Craig said I helped to keep him sane (always a good thing). February ended with the birth of Hannah Hawkins on leap day and Katrina and baby both looking great.

Valentine's Day - It was so nice and sunny and with a belly full of ice cream I couldn't feel better.

Alright, so I am caught up (I'm 33 weeks pregnant which is a little over 8 months- we all know now pregnancy goes to 10 months not 9 right). I think we have decided on the name Teagan for baby girl Emdadi. Teagan means "little poet" in Gaelic, and after Craig came up with the name and I agreed that I liked it it has stuck. I am now starting to see the doctor every 2 weeks as we get closer to the due date, but so far she is growing great and her heartbeat sounds strong on the monitor. Craig has started back at work and I have one more crazy month of extra calls and weekends, and then in April I will just have patient care daily until Teagan decides to make her grand entrance.

Thinking of all of you and wishing you the best! I have to go wake up my painter who is taking a nap on the couch if we are even going to 2 walls painted today before it gets dark.- Love ya Trissie
